the birth of brody house group

With a strong dedication to the emerging art scene and creative dialogues in Budapest,  the founders, William Clothier and Peter Grundberg, established Brody House in 2009 as a members arts club, guest house cum boutique hotel and hub for creativity and innovation. Prior to its conversion in 2009,  the founders resided at the property (Brody Sandor u 10) along with various artist friends, hosting cultural salons and dinner parties. As popularity and interest for the venture grew, the founders gradually converted  the art studios into bedrooms for international visitors, each room featuring art by the former resident artist.  After two years 11 guest bedrooms were established and the artists in residence relocated to another property (Brody Studios).

In 2012, in response to the growing appetite for Brodys cultural program, happenings and event spaces the group opened Brody Studios to its members and guests. In 2013, the Group expanded it accomodation offering by opening Brody Apartments, a serviced apartments building featuring 14 Brody styled serviced apartments for long and short stays.  Most recently, to formally establish its work in the arts, the Group launched Brody Artyard from which exhibitions, workshops, printing and art consultancy services are provided.

The Group continue to develop its portfolio
of venues around the city and expand its offering of inspiring spaces for accommodation, private events,  art studios, working spaces, galleries, workshops, artistic printing services and a packed cultural program for its members and guests who enjoy the vibrant scene of events, parties, gatherings and happenings.

values - our own stone soup

We work by our favourite motto, "One man's rubbish is another man's treasure..." We design and build our own interiors and furniture pieces. We look for inspiration in upcycling the most unlikely objects. We are passionate about spaces, especially underutilized, misused or neglected buildings. We want to put them to use again and create inspiring places for people to live, work, or play.  We encourage original artistic and creative talent in a wide array of fields including art, film, design, architecture, literature, media or entertainment to add to our simmering stone soup...
